Collection: Gas and Propane Outdoor Pizza Ovens

A gas pizza oven trades the ritual of wood fire for a knob: light it, wait 12 to 20 minutes, cook. Every propane pizza oven here is one we sell as an authorized dealer, from a 44-pound countertop unit with a rotating stone to handcrafted refractory built-ins that run on gas Tuesday and wood Saturday. Most ship propane-ready; several convert to natural gas. Below the ovens: how propane and natural gas differ, real heat-up times, a side-by-side comparison, and an honest section on who should not buy a gas oven at all. Still deciding on fuel? our Pizza Oven Buying Guide covers wood, gas, and hybrid in plain language.

Propane or Natural Gas: Which Gas Pizza Oven Do You Actually Want?

Nearly every gas pizza oven ships set up for propane, because propane is portable: a 20-pound cylinder from any hardware store, no plumber, no permit, and the oven can move. The Kucht Napoli runs roughly 15 hours on one 20-pound tank, which is a summer of weeknight pizzas. The Halo Versa 16 can even run on a 1-pound camping canister at a tailgate.

If your oven lives on a patio, a deck, or a cart, propane is the default for a reason, and a propane pizza oven outdoor on a cart is the most common setup we ship.

A natural gas pizza oven is the right call when the oven is going into a permanent outdoor kitchen that already has a gas line, or where one is being run for a grill anyway. No tanks to swap, lower running cost, and the oven becomes part of the house; our post on the benefits of a natural gas pizza oven covers the running-cost side. The tradeoff is permanence and a licensed plumber for the hookup.

Some ovens convert with a kit (the Versa has a dedicated natural gas conversion kit), some are sold as separate propane and natural gas models (the Kokomo 32 comes as LP or NG), and the HPC Fire refractory ovens are dual fuel, gas or wood, so ask us about the gas configuration you need before ordering.

Gas Pizza Ovens by Configuration

Countertop and portable gas pizza ovens

The Halo Versa 16 is the lightest oven we carry at under 44 pounds, with a motorized 16-inch rotating cordierite stone that turns the pizza for you and dual burners rated at 21,100 BTU. The stone reaches about 750°F in roughly 12 minutes. It is a one-pizza-at-a-time oven, which is the honest reason not to buy it if you host crowds.

The Kucht Napoli is the heavier, more permanent countertop pick at about 125 pounds, also one pizza at a time, with an optional matching cart.

The Summerset 32 Hybrid is the outdoor-kitchen countertop pick: propane or wood, a viewing window in the door, and a 932°F ceiling. Skip it if you have nowhere non-combustible to set it.

Cart and freestanding gas pizza ovens

The Kokomo 32 Dual Fuel is the lowest-priced dual fuel oven in the catalog, about 800°F on gas or wood, on its own stand, and it is the only one here sold as separate propane and natural gas models. The Pinnacolo L'ARGILLA is the unusual one: a gas-fired thermal clay dome shaped like the ovens of Pompeii. In our own heat test the deck reached 700°F in about 10 minutes and 850 to 900°F by 15. It ships with a full accessory kit.

The Pinnacolo IBRIDO is the hybrid cart version, gas or wood, and it sells out often, so check availability. The HPC Fire Forno puts a 2-inch refractory dome that holds 1,000°F on a powder-coated cart. It weighs around 450 pounds; buy it for a patio, not a raised deck you have not checked.

Built-in gas pizza ovens for outdoor kitchens

The two HPC Fire built-in pizza ovens are the same refractory oven as the Forno in permanent form: the Villa drops into an existing counter (it needs about 35 inches of depth and vents through the front, no chimney), and the Di Napoli ships as a ready-to-finish core your mason clads to match the kitchen. Both are dual fuel, so a gas line gives you weeknight convenience without giving up wood on the weekend.

If you are not building or renovating an outdoor kitchen, neither is for you; our guide to built-in vs freestanding pizza ovens explains why.

How Hot Does a Gas Pizza Oven Get, and How Fast?

This is where the marketing gets loose, so here are the numbers we can stand behind. The Versa's chamber is rated to 950°F, but the stone, which is what cooks the crust, sits around 750°F after about 12 minutes; that is a 4 to 5 minute New York style bake, not a 90 second Neapolitan.

The Summerset 32 is rated to 932°F. The L'ARGILLA's clay deck hit 850 to 900°F at the 15 minute mark in our own test. The HPC refractory ovens reach 1,000°F on wood and hold heat between launches because of the 2-inch walls; on gas they run cooler but recover faster than any steel oven we sell. If a 90 second Neapolitan bake is the whole point for you, the wood-capable ovens in this list are the ones to look at, and our post on pizza oven temperature explains why deck heat matters more than the number on the box.

Who Should Skip a Gas Pizza Oven Altogether

If the smoke and char of a wood fire is the reason you want an outdoor pizza oven, a gas-only oven will disappoint you, and no amount of convenience fixes that. Look at the wood-fired pizza ovens instead, or split the difference with a hybrid pizza oven that runs on either. If you rent and cannot have a propane cylinder on the property, or your HOA prohibits one, check the rules before you buy anything on this page.

And if you are looking for an indoor oven, none of these qualify: every gas pizza oven we sell is rated for outdoor use only, in open air, away from structures; a gas pizza oven outdoor kitchen install still needs clearances. Our comparison of wood-fired vs gas pizza ovens goes deeper on flavor, cost, and daily use.

Shipping, Warranty, and Buying From Crustify

Every oven here ships direct from the manufacturer or its distributor. The Versa ships by parcel; everything else ships crated by freight to your curb with liftgate service, and orders over $750 ship free. Inspect the crate before you sign; freight damage is rare and fully covered when it is noted on delivery.

Because we are an authorized dealer for every brand on this page, the manufacturer warranty is valid, which is not something you can assume from a marketplace seller. Price match, financing at checkout, and a real person answering email are standard.

When you have a question about propane versus natural gas for your specific setup, ask before you order; a five minute exchange beats a freight return. The Propane Education and Research Council publishes clear guidance on propane safety and cylinder handling that applies to every oven on this page.

Gas Pizza Ovens: Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered Before You Buy

These are the questions we answer most often about propane and natural gas pizza ovens, usually from someone who has an outdoor kitchen half planned or a patio they want to cook on this weekend. If yours is not here, email or call; the reply comes from the owner, typically the same day.

🍕 Is a propane pizza oven or a natural gas pizza oven better?
Neither cooks better; they differ in where the oven can live. A propane pizza oven runs on a portable 20-pound cylinder, needs no plumbing, and can sit on a cart or patio. A natural gas pizza oven ties into a permanent line, costs less to run, and never needs a tank swap, but it requires a licensed hookup and stays put. Choose by your setup, not by performance.
🍕 Can I use an outdoor gas pizza oven indoors or in a garage?
No. Every gas pizza oven we sell is rated for outdoor use only, in open air, with clearance from walls, eaves, and railings. Running one in a garage, enclosed porch, or under a low roof risks carbon monoxide buildup and fire, and it voids the warranty. If you need an indoor oven, this collection is the wrong place to shop, and we will say so rather than sell you the wrong thing.
🍕 How long does a 20-pound propane tank last in a pizza oven?
It depends on the burner size. The Kucht Napoli runs roughly 15 hours on a standard 20-pound tank, which covers a summer of weeknight pizza sessions. Higher-output ovens with larger chambers burn through a tank faster, and the Halo Versa 16 can also run on a 1-pound canister for a tailgate. Keep a spare cylinder outdoors, upright, and never stored under or beside the oven while it is running.
🍕 Does a gas pizza oven make pizza that tastes different from wood-fired?
Slightly, and it is honest to say so. A gas flame produces the same crust blistering and leopard spotting at high heat, but not the faint smoke character that comes from burning hardwood. Most people cannot tell the difference on a topped pizza; wood-fire purists can. If that character matters to you, a hybrid oven that runs on either fuel is the answer, and several ovens here are exactly that.
🍕 Which propane pizza oven is best for a family that cooks weekly?
For a family of four cooking weekly, a two-pizza oven earns its price: the Kokomo 32 Dual Fuel is the lowest-cost route to gas or wood, and the Summerset 32 Hybrid is the outdoor-kitchen countertop pick. If pizza is two or three pies on a weeknight and portability matters, the Halo Versa 16 at under 44 pounds cooks one at a time and is ready in about 12 minutes, faster than most full-size ovens.
🍕 Can I convert a propane pizza oven to natural gas later?
Some models, not all. The Halo Versa 16 has a manufacturer natural gas conversion kit. The Kokomo 32 is sold as separate LP and NG models, so you choose at purchase. The HPC Fire dual fuel ovens are configured for your gas type when ordered. If natural gas is in your plans, tell us before you buy so we confirm the right configuration instead of finding out after delivery that no conversion exists.
